The first ant I ever identitfied when I was just beginning to get into ants!
Numerous and conspicuous, perfectly smooth and elegant like little droplets of oil, they quickly became my favorite ants.
Best part of my day was going into the yard and checking all five nests, all with their own habits and personalities.
Occasionally I'd give them treats like pumpkin seeds and zucchini grown in our garden.
(they are granivorous so I'm not sure what they got out of chewing zucchini! Perhaps moisture)
