I like their distinct two-dotted gaster.
I think it might be their organs? Either way, I love it, very cute.
They are often active during hotter parts of the day that other ants aren't.
I would sometimes brave the oven-like conditions to have a look see at their activities, but I couldn't be out for more than a few minutes haha.
One time I witnessed a whole mess of them running around and seeming to wipe themselves on the sidewalk (pictured below).
I was and am very confused by this behavior. I'm thinking it might have something to do with maybe coming in contact with pesticides that my father used (that I hated).
They weren't dead on the sidewalk the next day, so I'm really not sure what happened to them.
